Puerto Rico Puts Military on Streets to Fight Drug Crime

Puerto Rico — This past week Puerto Rico's Governor Luis Fortuno ordered 1,000 National Guard troops to be deployed to the cities of San Juan, Carolina, Bayamon and Ponce in order to help the police fight a drastic rise in drug-related crime.

"The military personnel will repair police cruisers and join local authorities on patrols in the most crime-ridden areas of Puerto Rico, mainly in poor parts of the commonwealth's largest cities."
