Western News Broadcasts Jammed in Ethiopia

Ethiopia — Voice of America reports that some of its shortwave band broadcasts in Ethiopia are being jammed, as are those of Germany's Deutsche-Welle. Specifically, both news outlets' Amharic language transmissions are said to drowned out with static. The Ethiopian government has denied any involvement.
From Voice of America:
"VOA and Deutsche Welle were jammed around the time of the last parliament election in 2005, and again before the 2008 nationwide local elections. The next crucial parliament vote is scheduled for May 23."
