Solution Based Maritime Security

K&M Global Security Solutions, Kneeland Consulting d.o.o., and Evolutionary Security Management have teamed up to offer the shipping industry an alternative to the "patch" based security programs offered by most security providers.

The shipping industry is truly global in nature and the ships and crews must be able to operate in a wide range of conditions. Additionally, the physical structure and operations of each ship are often different, as are the corporate approaches and tolerances to risk. Solution based security is an approach that maximizes the capability of the organization as a whole, and is effective across all operating environments. This approach utilizes leading edge techniques and technology in a system soundly-based in security and emergency management practices. The methodology mitigates the risk associated with hostile threats by preparing your vessel and its crew so that it can respond to threats effectively under a range of conditions worldwide.

This approach to ship security can be reinforced through a comprehensive review and implementation of a Security Management System that bridges the gap between the vessel and the corporate structure on shore. Bridging this gap allows the company to play an active role in supporting its vessel's security while also providing senior management with the information it needs to make timely critical decisions.

Our goal is to provide you with an integrated, total security solution, reducing unnecessary overhead by having a well-trained, well-equipped and capable crew ready for global operations. We want to build the capacity within your organization to respond to a range of evolving threats and allowing your organization to take a truly risk-based approach in utilizing future security services.

To ensure that your organization can respond effectively to ship security events your organization must be able to gather the necessary information, assess that information and communicate it to the necessary organizations within the maritime security domain. Our approach is to build that capacity in such a way that it can be integrated into a number of programs (such as the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) or a range of ISO standards (including ISO 28000). Integrating this capability means that your overall administrative burden is lessened while you still maintain your program compliance.

This alternative is unique in that it offers companies attempting to ensure the security of their vessels a solution that builds their own capacity to respond to events in a way that is supportive of both the vessels and corporate priorities. It does so in a way that the company not only benefits from the service once, but many times as its own capacity improves. This provides a company with a clear advantage over its competitors. This reflects our understanding of the challenges faced by even the largest and most established of shipping companies in today's environment.

Even though we do provide maritime security services for merchant vessels, we like to look at ourselves as a 'security solution provider' rather than just a security provider.
