Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency has reported that the Iranian air force is scheduled to begin a series of week-long war games on Saturday (7/31). The exercises will involve more than 40 aircraft including the country's unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Via the linked-to RIA Novosti article we learn the war games have been code named Fada'eyan-e Harreem-e Vellayat, which apparently means Devotees to the Sanctity of Religious Leadership.

Russia's RIA Novosti reports that Romania plans to replace its aging fleet of Russian MiG-21 LanceR fighters with used F-16 Falcon jets, which the U.S. will supply for free if Romania takes responsibility for modernizing them, training the pilots and upgrading runways to accommodate the jets.

U.S. State Department - "The U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) is assisting the Indonesian Air Force improve the safety of its aircraft. The Indonesian military and three U.S. Air Force Technical Coordination Groups (TCG) have recently conducted reviews on F-5, F-16, and C-130 aircraft. This was the first in-country review in 2 years, and the most in depth ever."

The U.S. Navy's Naval Air Systems Command has grounded 104 Navy and Marine F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets (models A through D) because inspectors discovered the airframes were developing cracks much earlier than engineers had thought reports NavyTimes.com. Interestingly the crash of a Marine F/A-18D last week was not related to this problem according to a Navy spokesperson.

The nuclear capable missile has a range of over 2,000 miles. Indian officials have said the weapon is now going to be inducted into the military's arsenal.
