The Coast Guard conducted the first 2010 Arctic Domain Awareness flight over Alaska's northern coastline on Wednesday.
While the Coast Guard said the purpose of Wednesday's flight was to assess the winter ice buildup in the region, the flights also support the Coast Guard's Homeland Security mission, maritime domain awareness operations and science research.

The Indonesian military and three U.S. Air Force Technical Coordination Groups (TCG) have recently conducted reviews on F-5, F-16, and C-130 aircraft. This was the first in-country review in 2 years, and the most in depth ever."

Luis Pena Soltren pleaded guilty Thursday (3/18) to his role in the 1968 hijacking of Pan AM flight 281, which was bound from New York to Puerto Rico, but instead was flown to Havana.
Pena Soltren, who spent 41 years hiding in Cuba before surrendering last October to U.S. authorities, admitted to threatening a flight attendant with a knife during the hijacking.

NY Daily News - "After threatening to slash the flight attendant's throat, he and another hijacker seized control of the cockpit. With his partner pointing a gun at the back of the co-pilot, Pena Soltren ordered the captain to change course to Havana, he recalled."

As if European air travel wasn't going to be hit hard enough by British Airways cabin crew striking this weekend and then again March 27 - 30, now six unions that represent Air France flight attendants have announced that their workers will also strike at the end of March. The unions are calling this a "solidarity strike".

A federal grand jury in Colorado last week indicted a former Transportation Security Administration (TSA) data analyst on charges of attempting intentionally to damage a protected computer. The ex-TSA worker, Douglas James Duchak, age 46, allegedly injected malicious code into two TSA databases last October, a week before his employment was about to end at the TSA Colorado Springs Operations Center (CSOC).
